Floating through the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Haines Alaska is a must see attraction and you won't want to miss the jaw dropping scenery, delightful guides and genuine Alaskan wildlife.

Watch eagles catching salmon and caring for young eagles in the numerous nests that line the riverbanks. Look for bears, moose, and a host of other wildlife that call the preserve home.

Booked onto the Eagle River float from our Holland America cruise ship. Weren't sure what to expect, but we need not have worried. This was a well organised, well-staffed trip. The beautiful, sunny day probably helped a lot! After a pleasant ferry ride down the fjord, we boarded the bus with one of the most entertaining hosts we have had so far. Boarded the dinghy and floated down the river for 90 minutes - after the hustle and bustle of the cruise ship, the peace and tranquillity of the float raft were lovely. Saw lots of eagles and learnt about the ecology of the area. Worth every penny!!

Great, peaceful float down the river with LOTS of eagle sightings and such pretty scenery. The guides were great, knowledgeable, and worked super hard. Pick up from the dock was easy. Really got us out in the "wild" and we saw scenery and had an experience we wouldn't have been able to on our own,

Rafting in Alaska sounded daunting but turned out to be easy and fun. We didn't have to do anything but look for (and see) eagles. We were blessed with pretty good weather and the birds were out to please us. Our guide Preston was in control and worked hard to keep us just where we needed to be. That is not an easy river to navigate but he made it seem easy.This adventure was a real highlight in a trip full of wonderful high points!
