We cannot recommend West Virgina Adventures highly enough. From start to finish our guide Alex was a star. He made this worried Mama feel confident and safe regarding her two small kiddies (aged 8 and 6). Even though I booked it I was pretty nervous when we got there. However, from start to finish this was one of the coolest activities we've done together as a family. Alex was so knowledgeable on everything from rafting to the river to the park. He explained everything so clearly ensuring we all understood and knew what we were doing. My kids had the time of their lives as did we, their parents. Tim our driver was a very cool and a kind gent too, going above and beyond. I picked West Virgina Adventures based on their reviews and now I know why they are so great. Thank you to you all! We had a fantastic experience!

We did the family raft trip on the Upper New River which was great as our first experience rafting. One of the members of the trip was over 70 with knee and shoulder joint replacements but the rest of the group paddled and everyone had fun. Our guide was Patrick who was awesome! He handled the difficult sections but allowed everyone to join in the fun. I would highly recommend this trip of young and old alike. They take the more experienced &/or adventurous on more difficult sections of the river but this was a great family or first timers rafting trip. Highly recommend it!

We had a fantastic whitewater rafting trip with West Virginia Adventures. We weren’t sure which company to pick but they had good reviews so we picked them. So glad we did because when you do, you are supporting a small business. They are one of just a few small business tour companies in the area. We can highly recommend Dale “Crock” as a rafting guide and suggest you specifically ask for him. We felt incredibly safe with him. His knowledge of the river was amazing. He is also quite a character and kept us entertained the entire time. Rob was our safety kayaker that made sure that if anything did happen that we would have a speedy rescue. We also had a new trainee on our boat learning the river from Dale. The trainee is an experienced guide (sorry I can’t remember your name) on the Ocoee river in TN but was learning the specifics of the New River. They were both super nice and also very funny. We went on a Monday and were lucky enough to be the only ones on the trip and never saw any other rafters either. Another plus for this company is that the bathroom facilities are very clean and nice. You can even take a shower after the trip if you want. They have some shirts and hats for purchase also. We are already talking about coming back next year to have Dale take us on the Gauley river.
