I rated this as a 2 out of 5 only because the show was so amazing. Without the show I would have gave a 1 out of 5. If you are interested only in going to see the show, its really good. The food was at times inedible. OT be clear this is the first review I have ever left anywhere. I love high quality food but dont expect this there. (this was one of the main reasons we picked this one)
Here is a break down of our experience. First off, if you have an food allergies you may want to avoid this place as they say they can accommodate them but that was actually not the case. When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant staff member who went over my food allergies (gluten, Corn) and told us they had prepared special food for me, I was very excited by this. But that is where the excitement for the food ended. At the first course they brought me the same food as everyone else had and so I asked if they make all their food gluten-free and the waiter told me this was not gluten-free. I reminded the server that I had allergies and he told me he didnt know that but would switch it out. He returned and I just had less food on my plate rather than any alternative options. I will say the appetizers I did have were flavorful and enjoyable.
For the main course, again we had to talk with the sever to make sure they did not serve me food I could not eat and was told that the chef was working on something that fit within my diet. I was surprised by this, as when we had booked weeks earlier we had informed them of the diet restraints and it was labeled on our reservations. When the main course came it looked good but every part of it was so dry and overcooked that we could only eat it by swallowing small bites with water. There were four if us in our group and we al had the same experience. Again, they food they offered seemed of high quality but just was not cooked well. We had Huli Huli chicken, Pua'A Kalua Pork, Pulehu Steak, Mahi Fish , sweet potatoes, and purple sweet potatoes. The rice was the only non-dry food/overcooked food. I think it was a poor choice of food selection for this event. Dry purples sweet potatoes, Overcooked extremely dry fish, overcooked dry steak, and dry chicken. This would have been saved to some degree if any of the food items had any type of sauce or liquid on them but they did not. It was obvious out food had been sitting in a steamer for an extreme amount of time. When it came to dessert we again we let down. I was told when I arrived they had a special dessert for me but it was clear that message was never sent to kitchen. My server was so kind but basically told me they had nothing that fit in my diet and brought some plain fresh fruit for me. Which didn't really bother my until she told me after she brought the fruit and my wife actually had food that I know to generally fit in my diet. I asked why that did not fit in my restraints and she told me I actually could eat it but they didn't plan for me to have any so they gave it to the other guests. Not sure how two weeks notice was not enough time to plan for the correct amount of food.
Overall the food is not worth the extra cost. If you want top quality fish/food go anywhere else, even Coconuts fish taco shop was significantly better. I would say that the staff were extremely kind and respectful and did their best, the chef just dropped the ball.
The show was very good but you could see the same show with the same performers at the Marriot resort where you will be happier with the food.
