It was my husband’s first luau, but I’ve been to several, so I knew what I wanted for him to have the best possible experience. After carefully reviewing luaus on Maui, I selected the Feast at Mokapu and purchased “premium seats” (total cost, $749) which gave us our own two-person table, right in front! All aspects of the show were outstanding and certainly met expectations. The weather was perfect, with a gorgeous sunset behind the performers. It was a nice touch to have a professional photographer and to receive the photos online the same evening. Our server introduced herself as being there to make this really special for us, but we didn’t see her much. So, while the service was very good, it wasn’t extraordinary. Our disappointment was with the food. The first course was very good: poke, poi, shrimp & pohole, salad and grilled pineapple. The second course was disappointing: the chicken, kalua pork and fish were all quite dried out. The braised beef short rib was the only protein that wasn’t dry. It was tasty, but small - only 3-4 bites. The sides of jasmine rice and mashed sweet potato were satisfactory. The third course of dessert included small bite-sized pieces of strawberry coconut haupia, lilikoi custard tart and flourless chocolate cake. Not special, just “ok”. In summary, 5-star performance, but overall, we were dissatisfied with the food.

Experience was amazing ! The food was incredible, the people was great ! Lisha our server was top notch ! The woman that presented the luau was great ! She went away in beyond, so happy we did this ! Our kids love it ! Specially the fire ! Thank you Andaz for hosting !

We’d read a review prior to purchasing tickets, that the venue was seating people according their party size. Being a party of two, we thought we’d be seated at a table for two but when we got there we quickly realized that was no longer the case. We ended up being sat with 7 other people, which was fine as they were all lovely to speak but wanted to call this out here just in case you were under the same impression that we were. I’m going to break this review down into three parts: performance, food and service. For the performance, I give this luau a 5+!! The story, the MC, the dancing… all of it was top notch! For the service, I give 5 stars as well. Everyone was attentive and ensured any alterations to the meals were attended to properly. I was quite impressed by this as I spy and gluten intolerant as was another person at our table and she had several more food preferences. For the food however, I give 2-3 stars. The Poke was warm or air temp. Poke shouldn’t be served at room temp or warm. Gave us pause to even eat it so we didn’t. The ribeye was the best part however my one piece was 50% fat. The fish was dry, as was the pork and the chicken. What a disappointment considering all the reviews that stated the food was top notch! Overall, the best seating is for the premium seats at $340 a ticket but considering the inconsistency of the food, I wouldn’t pay that much or even the $280 pp for the regular seating. Those who were staying at, or dining at the hotel, basically have a free show. Many people were watching the performances for free from balconies and lanai’s. I fully support the performances but was quite disappointed in the food.
