Our group from Washington, DC, took a full-day rafting trip with the Glacier Rafting Company down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River near Glacier National Park. The company’s center is located immediately outside the park, and they managed our arrival and handing out wetsuits, life vests, and helmets very well. Our raft guide was Trevor. He was great. He was outgoing and friendly. He gave clear instructions about how to paddle, how to stay safe, and what to do if we fell out of our raft or our raft capsized. He regaled us with facts about the river and park, pointed out nature and wildlife, talked about each rapid, and generally entertained us with stories, not an easy thing as we were together for nearly 6 hours. The scenic views along the river were amazing, and the rapids were fun. Trevor and the other guides in our group of five rafts also set up a midday camp site and grilled steaks and chicken for about 45 people. Trevor (and another guide Ox) joked about the grill smoke keeping the mosquitoes away, but the guys really took one for the team and dealt with smoke as they acted as grill masters for our group. They were efficient and very hospitable (getting steaks to exact requested temps and even offering gluten free and veggie options for guests) while making and serving lunch. All in all, the trip was great fun, a clear highlight to our visit to the area. I recommend the company.
