Too much gossip. Not enough facts. We would have liked to see interiors but here we can understand that often these houses are private.

This review is inaccurate. As mentioned in other reviews the tour does go into some buildings. Also, this review says “Too much gossip. Not enough facts” This is not true because the tour does not present gossip, but rather only facts. The facts are so interesting as to perhaps seem like gossip, but the tour has been researched by a New York City historian who studied history and sociology at one of New York City’s top universities. Some of the books used in the research include Gotham: A history of New York City to 1898 by Edwin G. Burrows and Mike Wallace, The Last Castle by Denise Kiernan, New York Streetscapes by Christopher Gray, The Women Who Made New York by Julie Scelfo, Andrew Carnegie by David Nasaw, Vanderbilt The Rise and Fall of an American Dynasty by Anderson Cooper and Katherine Howe, Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, The Lady on the Hill by Howard E. Covington Jr. as well as research conducted at the Newport Preservation Society, Museum of the City of New York, the New York Historical Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

A good visit, Mathew the Guide is fun and eloquent, in addition to knowing the subject, conveys it very well, a good walk to know the subject
