The three of us loved this adventure, including our 12 year old son. The landscape was so interesting and we really enjoyed scrambling on the rocks. Our guide, Christopher, was very good with all ages, knowledgeable about the geology and area. He took safety very seriously. We had never rappelled before, but felt completely comfortable based on his experience and how he guided us down into Goblin’s Lair. It was a very fun experience and wanted to immediately do it again.

The highlight of our Moab trip. I was nervous about the thought of repelling but our guide, Dusty, was patient and experienced. I am stunned that Goblin Valley State Park isn't more promoted. This was a stunning place to hike and well worth it.

We went to Goblin's Lair with Logan as our guide. I'm leaving a 2-star review because upon reflection, I don't think our harnesses were fitted safely. Logan told us to put our harnesses low across our hips. He actually corrected one of us, who does indoor rock climbing -- she had her harness secured above her hip bone, and he moved it down low so the waist strap was well below the top of her hips. He was very specific about this: "The strap should not be against squishy stuff, it should be on bone." I don't think this is how you safely wear a climbing harness. In my experience rock climbing and canyoneering, I learned from my teachers and guides to wear my harness high above my hips, so that if you flip over, you don't fall out. Indeed, while on this trip, one of us noticed that there was a large gap in their waistband while rappelling, and this was after our guide specifically adjusted it lower. Thankfully all of us made it out of the canyon intact, with only one bruise from hitting the canyon wall. I liked hiking through the park -- cool place.

Hi Justin, Thank you for your review. I reached out to you directly after you posted your review, but wanted to address your concerns here as well for the benefit of those who may read this. At Get In The Wild, ensuring the safety of our guests is our number one priority. Many customers share with us after their trips that even though it was their first-time canyoneering and rappelling, they always felt safe throughout the experience. In your original review, which was removed by TripAdvisor because it did not meet their terms and conditions, you stated "I'm not an expert, but I don't think this is how you safely wear a climbing harness. Everywhere I've Googled says---". It appears your question is a simple lack of understanding regarding the safety nuances associated with different brands, types and models of harnesses. We use canyoneering specific harnesses which differ from harnesses designed for climbing, ziplining, mountaineering, caving and other technical sports. Equipment fitment and adjustment varies not only by manufacturer, but also by specific model. All harnesses and associated technical equipment are used in accordance with individual manufacturers specifications and guidelines. We have a strict policy of checking and double checking all technical equipment on a daily and trip specific basis and ensuring staff are properly trained on all equipment types, brands and models. Over the past eleven years, we have safely guided thousands of guests through the canyons and have an impeccable safety record. Rest assured, your harness was fitted correctly and safely in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications. I hope this helps to clarify your concerns about harness fitment. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed hiking through this unique and special place and appreciate the opportunity to share it with you and your family. Sincerely, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild
