The Maverick Helicopter tour was absolutely amazing and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We are a family of 2 adults, a 13 year old and a 9 year old. We totally recommend this as the best way to see the Grand Canyon.
This trip was less than 4 hours and we did the early morning tour with a 7.30am pick up from our hotel the Bellagio and were back round the pool for 1pm! Other tours family have taken are 12 hours long via coach but with two children this was not an option although it would have been cheaper.
The entire team from the courteousy pick up driver (who gave great tips of where to dine out like the locals and save money), to the welcome and check-in staff at Maverick Helicopters terminal building were all just brilliant and welcoming.
You all do get individually weighed with your belongings so don’t be offended! Food, drinks and souvenirs can be purchased whilst you wait. You can get souvenirs when you return but you don’t get long to shop.
When your pilot takes you out to the aircraft, you have a quick photo taken (about $30 dollars mounted on a plaque) and then shown how to put on your flotation device as you do fly over water.
Our pilot Dallin (Doctor) Watson was awesome!! Apart from when he needs to speak to air traffic control or the other pilots, he is constantly giving us facts, figures, jokes and answering all of our questions. Kids had lots of questions!
With Dallin’s music playing, the atmosphere is superb in the air conditioned cockpit of the helicopter. The seats are comfortable and everyone will get a chance to sit up front but the views from the front, back and sides in these helicopters are amazing!
With incredible views of Vegas, the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the solar farms, and then the Canyon itself (and the skywalk from the air) are just amazing. Then to land in the Grand Canyon and have some champagne for the adults, snacks and drinks then to take in the scenery was a real treat - even our kids couldn’t get over the sheer size of the canyon.
Once we take off (all in different seats), we head off for a short flight to a refuelling center before heading off back to the air strip.
It was a magical trip with memories and fun that we’ll never forget. Watching the kids faces as they flew in a helicopter for the first time was priceless.
Was the trip pricey? Yes, but it was exceptional value for money and we still had a whole day to do stuff back in Vegas so we had the best of both worlds.
Maverick Helicopters will give you the memories of a life time in a way that a bus tour just can’t.
Would definitely recommend. Amazing experience. Kids loved it.
