This was a day trip from Seattle for a search of Whales . It started by Being greeted by one of the owners as you arrive the store front. The day was rainy most of the time , but the boat was excellent inside and out. We didn't have any luck finding the Whales but the Captain made sure we saw something. We got to see Stellars Sea lions and some seals and the rare deer. The staff are superb and very friendly and knowledgeable. Take the trip it's worth it.

The weather forecast when we were on Orcas Island last week included a little bit of everything so we took our time to decide on a day for our whale watch tour. We lucked out with the weather and boy, did we luck out with the wildlife. This was our fifth time looking for whales. Previous were two in Kauai, one on the central Oregon Coast and one in Icy Straight in Alaska near Glacier Bay. We ranked our Eclipse Charter experience number two, right after Alaska. Why? This was the first time the captain and crew came around on the dock to introduce themselves, find out where the passengers were from, answer questions, and generally chat. Captain Dan, Erica, and Mary are very personable. Then after a short introductory talk that included information on where there had been whale sightings earlier in the day, we were off. Most of the seating was inside the cabin at tables, but once we were underway everyone was free to go out to the bow or on the open upper deck, which also had some seating, though if you go up there, you do it because you want to stand at the rail for a better view. Each table had a laminated map of the San Juan Islands and two pair of binoculars, a nice touch. We brought our own, however. Mary and Erica, both very knowledgeable, hung out on each deck to point things out and answer questions. Over the public address system Captain Dan did the same, including some area history. He also invited us to come in to the wheelhouse to talk with him.. We headed over toward Saturna Island on the Canadian side of the border to look for the orcas. On the way we saw the single humpback that had been spotted, but since it was headed away from the orcas we didn't stay too long. Then we found the orcas...a group of five transients heading north...and moved along with them (at a distance, of course) for some time. They put on quite a show. Eventually, we turned around to look for the humpback. It took a while but found it we did, and watched it blow and dive for quite a while. As we wended our way back to Orcas Island we passed an island replete with deer and sheep that had been imported from Europe when it was a game farm, harbor seals lounging on rocks, a couple of Stellar sea lions swimming, and some bald eagles. Both my wife and I had a wonderful time. The captain and crew were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. We wouldn't hesitate to make the trip again.

We got to see J, K, and L pods. My favorite was getting to see the Humpback Whale. Seals and Porpoise. It was and warm sunny day. It is a trip I want to go on every year. . The Captain and Crew keep us well informed. I learned so much.
