Eclipse Charters were impressive even before we arrived ! I e-mailed two companies on Orcas Island with some queries. One just replied "look at our web site" but Eclipse sent a detailed, helpful and friendly reply. We booked with them for Sunday 30th August 2009. Everything was perfect. Captain Daniel is friendly and helpful and informative. Boat is comfortable. We were 24 people with plenty of comfortable seats inside and viewing areas outside. Coffee and snacks available. Two very knowledgeable ladies who work in Sea life aquariums on board who spent time with each passenger explaining things as well as giving commentaries during the trip. We saw dozens of whales and spent about two hours at the whale site. It is rumoured other operators spend a lot less time. Enough binoculars on board for everybody although they are not really needed. We also saw seals and bald eagles and Daniel went out of his way to try and find Sea lions but despite reports from another boat we didn't succeed - but he did try. I would not hesitate in recommending Eclipse Charters and would definitely use them again if we are in St Juan Islands. Other similar sized boats we saw looked much fuller and smaller boats didn't look comfortable enough to spend 3 1/2 hours in !

I recently took a vacation to the San Juan Islands in WA state and booked a whale watching tour on the Orcas Islands Eclipse Charters... OMG, it was amazing!! The captain and his crew were phenominal. We saw two different pods of Orcas (approx 25 whales total) that were breath taking. We also saw bald eagles, harbor seals and harbor dolphins. The boat was awesome. There was an upper deck for adults, an inside cabin (it can be a little chilly on the sound) as well as the front and sides of the vessel which gave amazing views of the islands and it's surroundings. I highly recommed this tour to anyone that is interested in seeing the Orcas!

Amazing experience! We took my parents (64 & 65) on the trip after staying on the island for 2 days. It was the highlight of the trip. The whales were a sight to see. Even better than the whales was the outstanding staff aboard the boat. The 2 naturalists made you feel as if you were part of the pod! We will definitely come back.
