Last week my girlfriend and I were in New York City. She had never been there, and it been quite a while since I had been there as well. I wanted to do something special.
I found several vendors with an Internet Search, and had almost settled on a different company when I realized that I could not book online, and I wanted to book and prepay on-line. I don't like to use the phone for this - I don't know why - but I am just more at home booking on-line.
One of the challenges when seeing a Broadway play is arranging transportation to and from the play. Walking is practical from many downtown hotels, but my girlfriend likes to wear those impossible high heels, and any walk over a block or so is not something that she wants to deal with. And she looks great in the high heels, so who am I to complain?
The problem is that when the show lets out, there are close to a thousand people spilling out onto the sidewalk, and at least half of them are trying to hail a cab. Not fun, especially if it is raining. And I did not know how to get her down to Central Park for a late night ride without giving the surprise away.
I found the ad on-line for Central Park Pedicab, and they said they would pick us up at the theater when the show let out. Perfect. I signed up for the ride (it was a little pricey, but after all, it is New York and a special date). They responded to my emails, answered all of my questions, and were very professional. They said Driver would text me after the show, and he did so as I exited the theater. Of course, it was pouring rain, and I thought this was not going to work, but this Green Pedicab pulled up, and it had a complete canvas cover. It was so cool - my date had no idea that it was for her until I told her to hop on. She was really surprised. The seats were heated and very comfortable, and pedicab was well maintained. We took a ride in Central Park and it was great. He was very professional in every way - the home organization answered my questions promptly and accurately (all contact was by email until the texts after the show). The ride was costly, but experience was priceless. I highly recommend Peter Pan Tours if you are in New York. Ignore arrogant New Yorkers who tell you that pedicab are not fun - they are really good what they do. I can't speak for the other vendors, but this one is a good one. Enjoy.
