Booked with Capt. Ron and he was able to work a single into another small group. It was a 6:30 am 3 hour tour. I am NOT a morning person and so I grumbled a little. He convinced me that is was the best time to see them so I confirmed and boy am I glad I did! Captain Ron was our pilot and Lauren was our dive manatees expert and photographer. We watched a short video on the Manatees and what we could expect with our interaction. Capt. Ron covered the safety rules for the boat and Lauren the rules while we were in the water. We had an approximate 30 minute pontoon boat ride out to Kings Bay. As we pulled into our tie off area the light was just beginning to shine. We slowly entered the water in our wetsuits and pool noodles to keep us afloat. In less then 5 minutes we were approached by an inquisitive manatees and then another and another. THEY ARE FANTASTIC!!!!! Some just glided by at a distance, but as daylight appeared, so did the Manatees. We were the only tour in our location for quite awhile so that 6:30am tour really paid off. Lauren, I will call her the manatee whispered. They seem to recognize her, perhaps by her colored fins, and flicked to her. We had one that played and played with us, rolling over, nibbling on Laurens fins and several came right up face to face with us. It was like a game of who will blink/move first! SO, SO EXCITING. They truly are gentle giants. Lauren got a lot of pictures/videos for posterity. I'd say we "interacted" with 15-20 but there were 30-40 in the quarantine area. They are free to come and go as this is their home, we were merely guests. This is a must do tour, it will be a once in a lifetime event. You won't find a better company then Gulf Coast Expeditions and especially Capt. Ron and Lauren. They were both so much fun, and very experienced. Thank you both for my "bucket list dream" come true.

Thank you so very much for your awesome review! You're gonna make people think I wrote the review myself! I'm kidding, of course, and I'm so glad you took my advice to move to our early trip that day. I will always try to put our guests on the trip time that will give them the best possible experience, and usually our earlier trips are our better ones: less crowded, and the manatees are usually a bit more active. So great decision on your part! Overall, it was a great trip and we thank you again for the super kind words. Come back with us any time!
