Our guide, Thomas, was fabulous: friendly, experienced and knowledgeable, and laid out the most beautiful lunch in the middle of the rainforest. This is not a river float in either direction. The paddle can be strenuous for the novice paddler, but the distance is doable. Bring close toed shoes that work in water and on the trail if you can. The hike is not strenuous, but you will cross stream with river rocks and boulders, as well as hike on smooth dry ground as well as slick and rocky. Come dressed to swim! The water is chilly at first but once you are in, it is quite comfortable. I also recommend getting up early and beating the crowds that come later in the morning. This was great fun and I highly recommend!
