I did the 3 canyon tour on Saturday, July 7, 2018 and it was amazing. The 3 canyon tour takes you through Class V rapids at the very end, and I was honestly surprised we'd be allowed to go through that given the beginner level of experience of most rafters. However, the guides were extremely knowledgeable, personable, and fun. Tommy was my guide for the afternoon and he was able to provide us with great conversation regarding his own background and experiences, history of gold mining on the river (lots of active claims you can see), and constantly keep us informed of upcoming rapids and safety mitigation plans should we fall out of the boat. Safe to say that we all managed to stay in the boat and had a blast the entire time. Our boat was quite loaded down with 5 adults, yet he was still able to safely navigate us through all the Class III, IV, and V rapids we encountered. I will definitely be doing this again and taking friends and family with me next time.

We are a family of 5 with 3 teens and no whitewater rafting experience. The staff of Chugach picked us up at the cruise terminal in Seward and after rafting dropped us at the airport after rafting. The Chugach staff are phenomenal! They calmly helped us all get oriented, geared up, and to the launch point. On the river the guides are calm even if the water is not. Never has getting hit with cold water been so much fun. The third canyon is a must do - even with one of us falling out it was still awesome. Bring your GoPro and a big tip. The guides earn it - Archie, Neil and Gumby were great. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

Loved the whole adventure, and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. The guides here know the river well and their passion for what they do is evident. I work in Anchorage in the tourism industry, and can appreciate their enthusiasm. The experience was well organized, the guides briefed each rapid before we hit it. Started off by jumping right into the creek and swimming down to the boats to simulate what to do in the event of a flip. After the last rapids, we had the option to jump back in and swim the last little bit to the take out. Hands get a little cold, but very refreshing conclusion to the trip. Dry suits were on good condition. Photos are taken throughout the trip, a cool feature if you want to spend the extra money.
