During your time on Kauai, enjoy a three-hour guided kayak and snorkel tour along the picturesque Hanalei River and in Hanalei Bay, which is home to the beautiful Bay Reef Lagoon. Admire the dramatic Makana Peak (Bali Hai) and get up close to tropical reef fish. As you kayak along the river, you’ll be surrounded by lush trees and diverse wildlife. Learn about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area from your naturalist guide, and enjoy a snorkel in the turquoise waters of the lagoon.

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect as did the others in our group but I have to say we had an amazing time. We paddled down the river to get acquainted with the kayak then headed out to the bay. And that is where the adventure began. 😳 I was pretty nervous about the waves but we followed our guide, Jay’s lead and instructions. It wasn’t the easiest task but we all made it to Hideaway. Jay told us we all were a strong group and took us that far because he knew we could do it. My 17 year old son had a blast. We stopped to snorkel and have lunch for about an hour and a half then headed back. Jay told us it would be easier going back but we all disagreed. We laughed about it when we got back. I think it was windier so it made it a little more challenging. Jay thinks this is a beginner course but again we all disagreed and gave him a hard time about. Our group was great. Everyone was really nice and encouraging. I’d highly recommend this trip. I don’t know it if I’d take young once’s unless they are really experienced in kayaking. My son had only kayaked a handful of times but knew how to manipulate the paddles to help turn it stop. If you don’t have an experienced young one then expect to do all the work.

Aloha Monica, Glad Jay showed you a good and challenging time on our Hanalei Blue Lagoon paddle and snorkel. Winter we can play "cat and mouse with the surf" and if the surf is too high can compromise the snorkeling component of this tour. Even when we don't manage to snorkel, the Hanalei river and environs are quite striking and panoramic. Thanks for taking the time to give folks an idea of this tour. Stay well and active. Aloha Rory, Yes…living in Hawaii/Kaua’i can be “picturesque” challenging and spiritually fulfilling. It is one of many requirements of all our guides to be well versed in both the cultural and natural history of all the areas we celebrate from the ocean to the mountains. Our kayak and snorkel tour was amazing. Jay was a very charming and knowledgeable guide and made sure to make our tour as enjoyable and safe as possible.

Aloha Modest, As we approach winter the surf can complicate this tour in finding a safe snorkel area; that is where good guiding comes into play and Jay. Glad you enjoyed and you will need to go with Jay on our more strenuous/challenging whale watching and Na Pali sea kayak tours. Stay active. A hui hou, Micco
