We participated in the Hassidic Williamsburg tour last month by a sunny december day. Participants came from different parts of the world (San Francisco, NY, Germany and ourselves from Luxembourg). We passed Willamsburg bridge leaving busy Manhattan behind us and entered into a different world, that gave us the feeling being throwed back to older times. Frieda, our tour guide, was very informative. We got many insights about the history of the community, children's education, the daily life in the community and all in all this gave us a better understanding of the ultra-religious atmosphere The tour was easy and lasted 3 hours included one stop in a bakery where we could try excellent jewish pastries and a final stop in a jewish restaurant were I ate my first tscholent (delicious). We really recommend to New York tourists to leave at least one day Manhattan behind and start this tour with Frieda.
