The ultimate multi activity package: a helicopter tour, a dogsled tour and a landing on the lower glacier to explore the melt pools and crevasses.

Start this adventure with a spectacular helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and mountain goats. Land on a huge snow field high on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with Alaskan sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer long. Take the dog team for an exhilarating dogsled ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush your own dog team if you want, or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team.

After the tour the helicopter takes you to the lower glaciers where you will land on the hard ice between the crevasses to see the majestic blue melt pools.

Total Tour time 2 hours - 1 hour on the glacier with dogsledding (aprox 30 min sled ride) and 30 min at the lower glacier near the crevasses and blue melt pools. Aprox 30 min of flight seeing total round trip

Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.

So far, this has been our favorite adventure while visiting Alaska. While planning our trip, we knew we didn’t want to dog sled on wheels and dirt so we opted not to dog sled. Then we saw an ad for this trip in a magazine and called. We were in luck, they had an opening. First you fly over glaciers (we had Chris as our pilot - amazing), hugging the mountains looking to spot moose and bear. He lands you at the sled dog camp and Rick, his grand daughter Cierra and Chad take over. You are probably going to end up in a mound of puppies as soon as you land but save some love for your sled dogs. After a thrilling sled ride around the glacier, the dogs want love and praise. Take an extra $20 for the action photos Chad takes. You will want these pictures. Then Chris gets you back on the helicopter and to fly up the glacier and over the top! As if this hasn’t been the most amazing trip ever, then you land on a lower glacier. I really can’t describe the beauty. It is something you just have to do. Pro tip: Take empty water bottles and fill then from the glacier. And THEN, to take off for I’m the glacier only to fly through a canyon on the way back. If you can only pick one trip, this one should be it.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It is definitely a must to bring a empty water bottle, its indescribable being able to dip it in and drink the cleanest water on earth :)

I cannot say enough good things about the Anchorage Helicopter Tour and our amazing guide, Adam! I'd never ridden in a helicopter before, so I didn't know what to expect. But the ride was smoother than I anticipated and the views were absolutely breathtaking. Definitely opt for the dogsled tour as well, because it's truly a once in a lifetime experience. We got to snuggle with baby sled dogs and hang out with the working dogs for a bit. Then we were whisked away in our own sled to see even more of the surrounding glacier area. It was so much fun! Finally, we landed atop the glacier and got to drink water fresh from the ground. It was the most incredible feeling. Throughout it all, Adam gave us a detailed history of the area and pointed out specific wildlife and nature formations. He was outgoing, friendly, and you could tell really loves his job! It's expensive, but you pack a lot in to just a few hours. Worth every penny.

It is always the best to share a first time helicopter ride along with the incredible scenery you can see in our little gem hidden in the back woods of Alaska to everyone we can. Best thing I did in Alaska and one of my top adventures of my life. Worth every penny and more. PLEASE do NOT skip the glacier landing. This part was sensational. Fill your cup up with pure glacier water, take pictures of a lifetime. The dogsled team was lovely and the puppies adorable. The staff picked and dropped me off from Anchorage and every person was friendly and knowledgable. The staff fit me in after a very long flight and came to greet me. I can't wait to visit again but with my family. This company is 5 stars+++. Don't delay- they get busy. Budget for this one, you won't be sorry!

Thank you for your review! the combo Dogsled with Lower Glacier Landing Tour is one of our favorites as you get the best of both the snow covered part of a high hanging glacier as well as the incredible feeling of landing on the hard ice between the massive crevasses and next to majestic blue melt pools.
