Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

We take food tours in every city we go all around the world, and this has been our favorite one! If you’re visiting Saint Augustine, don’t hesitate to book this, the food, wine, tour guides, pace was all very well planned. It’s absolutely worth the investment if this is the only thing you do in the area this will be enough! We’ve now recommended it to family, friends, bridal parties, honeymooners, everyone!

Our guide Jessica was so passionate and really helped us understand the city’s history better. The food and wine was a wide variety and felt adventurous! We enjoyed talking with the other couples too. We will definitely look for similar tours in the next city we visit!
