I was traveling solo and booked this sunset dinner cruise at the last minute. I’m so glad I did! It was one of the best things I experienced on the Big Island. Check in was smooth and easy, and the large boat was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It was under capacity for the evening, which was great, but I think even at capacity it wouldn’t feel cramped. The staff is outstanding. They had many servers constantly making rounds, and they were very attentive, so there was always someone available if you have a question or need a refill etc. Napkin wrapped silverware was delivered followed by a delicious salad, and then the entree. Portions were generous and the food was rich and very good. Throughout we were being treated to a smooth, steady cruise, with commentary of historical and natural interest, interspersed with great live music (acoustic guitar and singer). Kealekakua Bay is stunning. I’d been there snorkeling the day before, so it was interesting to see it again at a different time of day. The color of the water is amazing. As we turned for home, the sun began to set and a rich chocolate cheesecake dessert was served. Dishes cleared, the boat picked up speed. Some dolphins joined us and frolicked near the bow for awhile. It was a beautiful ride back. Once the sun was gone the stars came out, plus the city lights along the shore. The Hoka Nui and its entire crew were top notch. I loved this dinner cruise and highly recommend it. It was one of the more expensive things I did, but absolutely worth every cent.

Delicious dinner, entertaining singer, helpful crew. Nice sights. Very enjoyable experience. The employee at the check in kiosk was a little rude though.
