Follow our guide down a natural bayou through a natural Louisiana swamp. Along the way your guide will pause to give detailed info about the bayous, swamps, and Louisiana’s wetland eco systems. At the mid way point, we will enjoy stop and enjoy the surroundings. Depending on the season wildlife consists of ibises, egrets, herons, eagles, alligators, turtles, and more. Woodpeckers and assorted song birds are seasonal visitors to the living and dead cypress trees visible from the bayou.

Reservations are required, if you do not use our transportation detailed driving directions will be emailed in the confirmation email. We currently use a public launch near Laplace, La.

Hannah took us through the Manchac Swamp. We were in a group that totalled 11, which was a good size and made for a quiet and intimate experience. Hannah was amazing at spotting alligators and we saw 16 in 2 hours! Really a unique experience. She also helped identify the plants and talked about the ecosystem of the swamp. Some of this is a tragic story, as the old growth cypress were all clear cut and some of the waterways are clogged by invasive species, but it was still beautiful. We went on a tour with Byron (the founder of the company) in 2007 and this company remains a stand out. With a particular focus on ecology and conservation, this tour is fun and educational in equal parts!

My friend and I spent the morning out in the bayou on a kayak trip with Matt as our guide. It was magical being out on the water. Once we were out of ear shot of the interstate (which happened very quickly) it was so serene, hearing the birds and frogs and our paddles on the water. We didn’t have high expectations for seeing many critters, and were so happy with just the vegetation and the info Matt shared. However, we lucked out and saw gators, (non-venomous) snakes, frogs, birds and a turtle!! This was such a great way to see a different side of Louisiana. I highly recommend you consider Canoe & Trail Adventures if you want to support a great company and have an incredible experience out in nature.

My boyfriend and I took a tour with Matt and Hannah this past Monday and had a fabulous time. Both were very informative and shared history of the swamp as well as facts about the wildlife and botany. We saw more than five alligators, lots of birds (egrets, bald eagles, + more!), turtles and snakes. The swamp was beautiful and the tour was well paced without feeling rushed. The small tour (8 people) lent to the quality of the tour, it felt personal and the swamp was quiet and peaceful. I am a novice kayaker but felt at ease kayaking throughout the swamp. The pickup/drop-off service was punctual and I'd advise if you do not have access to a car. We've recommended already to friends who have future trips planned to NO!
