A brilliant experience from start to finish, we were blessed with amazing weather, literally not a cloud in the sky which meant we got amazing photos. Clementine and the team were excellent- super friendly and knowledgable but overall wanted to keep everyone safe and happy.

We had a fun time kayaking around the coastline and islands of Tongass National Forest. My wife and I were the only two kayakers in our group, and so we got a private tour from our guide Katie. She was very knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and even took us on a longer route. While we didn't get to see any whales, we did see a couple eagles and some sea stars.

Honestly I was so bummed because this excursion had such high ratings. If it was literally my first time kayaking I think it might have been a different story, but I am a medium level kayaker. It was just SO slow paced that it was on the verge of being boring, which is not what kayaking the ocean should feel like. And maybe I just missed it in the description, but it was pretty far from the port, taking about an hour in drive time. Then the drivers spent 5-10 extra minutes bickering on who would drive us back to the port, which was frustrating since my time was precious too. Overall I would only recommend for people going for their very first time.

Sorry to hear that your trip around the eagle islands was boring, maybe you would have found it more exciting to have gone in a single kayak, we provide single kayaks to experienced paddlers upon request. Between Ward Cove and downtown ketchikan we have to coordinate vans so they can go to different spots and bring the guests back to their ships.
