I wish I had known before I booked this trip that on 50% of the trips there isn't even a nibble, and a fish is actually caught on a very small percentage of the charters. And in the winter months, the likelihood of anything happening are even lower. We have done ocean fishing charters in Alaska and Florida and caught lots of fish, so I was not expecting this. It turned out to be a very long, kind of boring boat ride. There are better ways to spend several hundred dollars in Hawaii.

Aloha, Thank you for your review. We are sorry the fish was not biting the day you went out, and we wish you better luck next time. When fishing in general, it is always a 50/50 chance of catching any month. If not we would call it a "catching" charter. Most anglers understand the chances they take when going big game fishing. Winter months are very good to catch spearfish, stripped marlin, mahi mahi, big eye tuna and blue marlin. However it is still a 50/50 chance. My son and I went on our first pelagic fishing tour with Judah and Dave on Bite Me 4. They were really friendly and professional and made us feel at ease right away. The boat was well-appointed (watch out for the couch! It sucks you in and lulls you to sleep!). Spending 4 ours out on the beautiful waters off Kona would have been fine in its own right, but we managed to catch two gorgeous MahI-Mahi, which Judah nearly cleaned and packed for us. The fish was delicious and the day was a great experience for both me (52) and my 17-year old son. I strongly recommend Judah , Dave and Bite Me 4!

Aloha, Thank you for your review. Bite Me 4's team, Captain Dave and Juda are truly an asset to our company and a good team to fish with. How about that couch!! I will let you in on a little secret...All of the Bite Me vessels are equipped with "suck you in" couches. Plenty of folks claim that they have had the best "short nap" of their life on them! Even the most determined anglers have fallen victim to the couch between the fish biting. We hope the rest of your vacation to the Big Island was as memorable as your Bite Me 4 fishing charter. I don't usually do negative reviews. I thought about it and I should do it for others before they go with this company. This is my son's first fishing Trip. Their brochure said, it's a 6 hours trip. It ends up only 4 hours only. 6 people on the boat. Couples people were very experienced and go fishing all the time. None of people even got one small fish. Honestly, The crew members doesn't really care. Honestly, there should be fish everywhere in Hawaii. Surprisingly, Not even a tiny one!!!!! Captain should know where the best spot for fishing trip are. I called the office and the lady on the phone is so rude and kind of knows majority of time will not get any fish. Occasionally they will get some. She said "We don't guarantee for catching any fish". If they know, why don't they honest to their customer before selling the package. DO NOT recommend them!

Aloha, Thank you for your review, most of our one star reviews are because of not catching. It's fishing; 50/50 chance of catching, and yes, we do not guarantee catching. If we could...we would. We have a very good catching record, but it is still fishing. You were on a shared charter. Shared charters are only 4hr charters. We do not offer 6hr shared charters. The captain will not troll for small fish on a shared charter, small fish here are used as bait. On a 4hr charter you do not have the time to search for bait. Our captains are very knowledgeable of the fishing grounds in Kona. They do there best to land a fish in the time they have. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation on Big Island.
