This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

This was a great tour. Our guide Stephen was very personable and knowledgeable about the area. We were lucky enough to see at least 8 Manatees, probably none of which we would have seen if not for Stephen. One Manatee surfaced almost under our kayak. I highly recommend the tour.

What a wonderful day! We toured as a family ranging in age from 8 to 65, in both single and tandem kayaks. Stephen is a knowledgeable and friendly guide that is passionate about estuary and it’s inhabitants. We spent time getting to know 3 manatee as soon as we launched. They checked us out for long time, playing with the kayak straps and giving us an incredible view! We loved the scenery, the peaceful kayak ride, and Stephen’s great commentary. The kids even commented that they really enjoyed learning something on vacation. Who knew?

Steve is a great person and a wonderful guide. We caught only a quick glimpse of a baby manatee, but he made the trip worthwhile by speaking to our interests and own expertise, which in this case had to do with vegetation and trees and resource management. He pulled up critters from the traps he puts out: a beautiful fish and, amazingly, a very rare pregnant male seahorse. He is friendly, his dog is a seafaring riot and a free extra, and we had a great time. A relaxed, peaceful, beautiful trip.
