Arkansas River

A favorite for families with young children or more mature adult groups looking to get on the river without the stress of intense whitewater. After arriving at our office, getting checked in, changing into your river clothes and listening to a safety orientation, you will be driven to the put-in, located approximately 20 minutes from our office. Once there, you will get on the river and enjoy the ride. Most groups chose to not paddle along, enabling you to enjoy the picturesque views, bouncy rapids and quality time with family and friends while the guide maneuvers the boat. After the trip, we will drive you back to our office where you can view the professional photos taken of your trip. We look forward to getting on the river with you!

Our group, a family of 5 adults, really enjoyed our time on this trip. Our tour guide Jesse made us feel comfortable and safe, had lots of experience and stories to share, and helped us enjoy our trip down the rapids. The class 2 rapids were enough to have some exciting times and get wet but calm enough to not to be stressful. It was an enjoyable and relaxing trip.

We did a half day rafting trip on the Lower Brown's Canyon. Water is a little higher than typical for this time of year, so we chose this rafting trip to be a good mix of class 2 and 3 rapids, beautiful scenery, and mild paddling. The trip passed by the collegiate peaks and downtown Salida. Our guide Jesse was great! He did an excellent job of keeping us safe, telling us about the local scenery and history, and telling jokes. I have been to a number of other rafting outfits, but was more impressed with Wilderness Aware Rafting than the others I have tried. 10/10 experience. I hope to come back and raft some of the other rivers!

Wonderful trip, well taken care of by our guide, Michael, and our safety boat manned by Dennis, as well as the lovely Linda getting us there and back. It was the first time rafting for the kids (13 and 11), Michael made us feel very safe and confident despite the very high water. Booking agents at the counter were knowledgeable and helpful throughout.
