What a great adventure! I went on my own and got to sit in the front of the van with David, our tour guide/owner. He was really down to earth, easy to talk to and such a nice guy.
He was a little late for pickup but kept me informed every step of the way by calling me to advise what was happening. Another person had missed their pickup time so David was trying to pick him up at another hotel. I was fine with this because I know things happen that are out of own control sometimes. This showed me that David really cares about his business and customers.
The drive was long, but I knew that when I booked it and did not care. Seeing the sites were most important to me, than the drive. Expect to drive for 9 hours total (4.5 hours each way). The landscape along the way was absolutely beautiful and it was sunny, then cloudy, then stormy. I loved this because it was the best of all worlds!!!
We even got to see a double rainbow. I would have never asked him to, but David was kind even to stop so I could take a picture of it. He could see me trying to take pictures in the side mirror of the rainbow so he offered. That meant a lot to me. It's the little things that matter the most!
I would definitely wear an old pair of sneakers because you'll get a lot of sand in your shoes and don't want to ruin a good pair. I would not wear flips flops or flimsy shoes. He gave us an option of where we wanted to stop for lunch so we went to Subway and ordered what we wanted. I appreciated this because some tours have a pre-made lunch and don't specify it to your liking.
We visited the following places: Virgin River Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon Dam and WahWeap.
We had a guided tour with one of the natives for Antelope Canyon. This location was less busy than some of the other Lower Canyon tours. We did not have crowds of people and were able to capture some beautiful photos without people in them.
You are on your own for Horseshoe Bend, there is no guided tour. You are dropped off and get to walk up to the location on your own and take your time. He explained the other areas that we visited and was able to take pictures there as well.
We ended up getting back into Las Vegas around 9:30pm. If you want to get the most out of your trip and can handle a long day, this trip is for you! I plan to come back out to visit and hope David expands his company and offers more tours. This was well worth the money! Thank you David!!!!
