Manuruhi was my guide for this, he was funny and knowledgeable and really made this tour great! You start off by choosing a "chief" from your dinner group to represent your "tribe of x nations" with x being the number of countries the group is from. You get to see their sacred spring, which is not only beautiful, but has delicious water as well, then your chief greets the arriving warriors on their waka and participates in their welcoming ceremony. They perform several songs and dances, and you could tell the performers were having fun too. Dinner is tasty and large, and then you walk through a village as it would have been, and hopefully see some glow worms (if people actually turn off their lights). They only have a small gift shop, so it feels less like they're trying to get more money from you. :) Definitely worth it!

Kia Ora (Hello) Marissa,
Thank you for sharing your time with us at Mitai Maori Village. We thrive on giving our manuhiri (visitors) the opportunity to take a glimpse into our unique indigenous Maori culture through the sharing of our kai (food), cultural performance, sacred landscape and history.
We are pleased you enjoyed our sacred springs. We agree with you the water is delicious!
