We came to drop our adult daughter at her new apartment in New Haven. What to do these pandemic days that is casual, informative, involves some moving about (after a long day on the road!), and is appealing for all ages? Voila the ghost tour! We were toured about by the terrific, expressive, knowledgeable Madelyn Morbid. I was surprised how right it was—we could chat together as a family as we walked the short distances around, but also were regaled with some fun “insider” stories about history & place via tales of local ghosts and spirits. I highly recommend it.

The tour guide (Kelly) didn’t know much about the history of the city, and didn’t make the ghosts interesting at all. We were given obvious information that could be read on plaques on the wall (Yale buildings have a blue plaque - that says ‘Yale’) or easily found by ourselves. Covid made it difficult as we couldn’t go inside anywhere, but that would have only improved it marginally. In need of serious improvement to make it interesting and worth anywhere near $25 per person.

It was very difficult to book this tour. We had a very hard time contacting the organizers of the tour. When we finally did I was reluctant to give them a credit card number over the phone for fear of a scam because of the way the booking was handled. The person giving the tour was very nice and did her best on a very cold, windy night. We were appalled when the family of three that were also on the tour left without giving her a tip.
