Libby, our tour guide, met us on time and her cheerful demeanor made us feel relaxed and eager to learn about this amazing district of New Orleans. We knew it might rain, but she came with extra umbrellas to share, and assured us that we would be glad for the rain when it came. And we were--because the steamy tombs in the LaFayette Cemetery were pretty much melting us right into the stonework when the cloudburst blew in. She passed my husband an umbrella, and helped us take the typical down-pour in stride as she guided us under the colorful awning of the famous Commander's Palace, using this natural pause to tell us another interesting story behind this renowned restaurant. Our walking tour passed quickly, and I 'm amazed at how much we know now of this fascinating Garden District. Walking back to the Charles Stree trolley car,to go back to our hotel, I found myself wishing we had time to get Libby's take on the French Quarter! (Sigh) Since we are flying back to Colorado Springs tomorrow, that will have to wait for our next visit! We'll be back Libby.

What a beautifully-written review! You were troopers in that spontaneous storm, but I am glad the rain slacked so we could continue our exploration of the Garden District. You had so many great questions and insights, that our tour truly felt like a walk with friends. Please come back - to see your grandson, to tour with me in the French Quarter, for a plantation tour, and for those roseate spoonbills!
