If you're considering using a hop-on/hop-off bus service in Manhattan for sightseeing, pick another company. The CitySights NY website starts by making you think their tickets are "on sale," with a deadline for purchasing. The deadline changes daily. The website leads you believe you are purchasing passes for the buses, whether one day or more. You aren't. You're buying a voucher, which you have to take to their Visitor Center on 8th Ave., where you exchange it for a receipt, masquerading as a pass. The website clearly implies there are multiple "visitor centers" for exchanging a voucher. There aren't. There's one for NYC. . . on 8th, between 47th and 48th. Don't ask any of the scores of CitySights NY sales reps, crowding sidewalks along 7th Ave. and adjoining streets, what is going on; they know nothing. At the Visitor Center, be prepared to be pitched for tickets to attractions you don't want. The whole thing is a set up to pressure you into buying other tours, longer tours, more attractions. Resort timeshares could learn from these clowns. (It's little wonder this outfit once settled antitrust allegations with NY State and the federal government.) Once you get your "pass," you have to trek over to 7th Avenue to stand in line for one of the hop-on/hop-off buses. Pray it's a normal traffic day. If it's anything out of the ordinary, CitySights NY will have failed to plan for it. The ONLY redeeming value for this company is you may be lucky and get a good tour guide. Or, more likely, you'll get one who's mediocre (or worse). GOOD luck. Better still, try another company.
