Even though everything is good or not good (Weather and Aurora Activity) when it starts, the weather or Northern Lights' activity always changes, and other conditions may change. It will be the natural things involved, which causes a lack of lights or low visibility.

All I can say is wow. Our guide picked us up at 10.15pm and was so lovely for the drive. Her and David (our photographer) stopped a few times to check the sky, and said they were hopeful. We drove for about 40 mins outside of Fairbanks and we pulled up and we were greeted with just the most amazing sight of the Aurora one could hope for. David was so skilled and knew exactly what to do to get the best photos. We were in a group of about 10 and he kept changing spots and taking heaps of photos. He took group and individuals and took as many as we wanted. My friend and I had to be at the airport at 12.30am for an early flight so our guide took us early to make our flight and made sure we had extra time for photos. They were so accomodating, so lovely and would 10/10 recommend. They also had the photos uploaded in a drop box within a few hours. So so happy with the photos!!! Would’ve paid the whole cost for them alone. Thank you SO much!!!

It isn’t that the tour was bad, it’s where the tour went. We stayed too near Fairbanks. So near that the lights affected our ability to see the northern lights. What we saw was minimal and paled in comparison of what we saw when we went 25 miles out of town! Had they just gone out of town, rather than moving around, as we did, we would have had a better experience!

Hi, Thank you for you review on Viator. We are truly sorry that it happened. You saw the lights even though Kp index was 2 only. Other clients were satisfied with what we were doing during the tour. Another team went more than 30 miles out of town. But it was the same one. As you know, there are many factors governed to see the lights. Yes, the distance is one of the factors. But it did not happen again if we may get to the same spot. Even that date you got the tour was totally different with the other day. It could not be compared. It was Kp index was 2 only (Low Activity). They chased the lights at 4 different spots. The lights got weaker and weaker. Everything always changes. It was Mother Nature that we could not control. As we mentioned and emailed on Viator and TripAdvisor, we can’t promise to let you see the Northern Lights, which is Mother Nature that we cannot control. It is a natural phenomenon. My mom and I had a great time in Fairbanks because of these people! We were treated with great service (they offered us a better room for free because we were the only ones booked for a tour at the time), gave us well detailed explanations of both Alaska's history and how the residents live, and most of all, gave us their all in their activities! What stuck with me the most was how passionate these tour guides were for their jobs; David, our aurora tour guide, spent 2 hours just searching for the northern lights so we could see its beauty, and I truly, truly appreciate that. I HIGHLY recommend Alaska Journey Tours for whoever's looking for a trip in Alaska!
