Ian, our tour guide, led us to Katz's Deli, Russ & Daughters, Vanessa's Dumplings, Economy Candy, The Pickle Guys, Kossar's Bagels & Bialys and The Doughnut Plant. Along the way, our tummies were filled and our minds were expanded. By the end of the tour, we felt we had made a group of new friends. We met a young lady from Australia, a couple of ladies originally from Northern Virginia, a family of four from Dallas, Texas and a married couple from the Chicago area. Ian interacted with all tour participants and made sure that any specific dietary restrictions were taken into consideration as we progressed through our three hour tour. The rich history of the Lower East Side was shared by Ian as we walked together at a reasonable pace with stops along the way to nourish our bodies and minds as well.

The tour with Billy was the highlight of our stay in NYC- both my teenage son and husband enjoyed it too. So interesting to see a local neighbourhood and learn some of its history but of course the star of the show was the food, and certainly not small portions either- do not think you'll need lunch afterwards!! If I had to pick a highlight it was eating Pastrami in Katz's Deli - do not miss this tour- I promise it will be the best thing you do!!

This was great chance to learn more about lower east side of NYC, the housing immigrates lived in and their food influences. Tour guide was funny and personable.
