All those lucky enough to make it to Santa Fe for a photo-cultural experience will not be disappointed in any way. I am a professional photographer/educator/artist. knowledgeable in all aspects of photography.
We set out from Santa Fe stopping along the way to our destination of Chimayo making photographs of the sculpted landscapes, Sangre di Cristo mountains, Truchas Peaks, and the Jemez. Chimayo is an amazing location filled with unique local trappings and the famous Santuario de Chimayo. We arrive in the picturesque village of Chimayo to photograph and explore until heading back to Santa Fe. Photo-instructions throughout! Emphasis on composition, lens choice, landscape, architectural tips, and more. This is truly a great 1/2-day photo workshop. Digital cameras and smartphones are welcome.

David Hoptman's 4-hour Photo Creative Workshop was -- far and away -- the highlight of my five-day visit to Santa Fe. David is a life-long fine art photography professional who has a gift for teaching and a very personable and conversational approach to sharing his knowledge and artistic skills. David provided transportation to exquisitely beautiful locations in the desert countryside north of Santa Fe, and to the nearby historic village of Chimayo. The landscape locations we visited were breathtaking, and he timed our return route to allow us to photograph sunset views of distant mountains, open sky, dramatic clouds, and nearby rocky outcroppings. He's not only a great teacher but a knowledgeable guide to the natural beauty that surrounds Santa Fe. He shared helpful and understandable insights about photo composition that can be applied to any camera -- even an everyday iPhone (like mine) or an Android phone.

David was a great instructor. He communicated shortly after I booked to establish a pick up location and time. He was very knowledgeable about the local area and provided on the spot feedback, recommendations and instructions for shooting the different locations. He sat down and went over editing techniques which was great. Overall an excellent workshop. Wear good hiking boots and be ready to hike into some uneven territory.
