We're called Unique for a reason... This is not your standard Hana tour. We'll take you on a full day adventure all the way to Hana and beyond then back, or all the way around (depending on weather and road conditions). We will stop at all the best spots along the way, as your driver negotiates the busy 650+ turns and 55+ one-lane bridges. You can just kick back, take in the views, and enjoy the fun!

Highlights may include hiking through lush jungle, swim in pristine waterfalls, taste fresh banana bread and coconut ice cream, hidden lava tubes, scenic view points, local food trucks and farm stands, black or red sand beaches... and learning about Hawaii's history, geology, and legends...

Remember it is YOUR private tour, so talk to your guide about what YOU like and want to do!

At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information at time of booking: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
Refunds will not be issued if tour/activity is missed due to late or non-arrival of cruise ship
Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not recommended for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair. Please bring or wear sneakers/keens/water shoes with good grip
Operates in all weather conditions, rain or shine, please dress appropriately, bring change of clothes.

Pua'a Ka'a State Park

One of the Road to Hana's most amazing waterfalls! Weather-permitting, you'll be able to swim in the "refreshing" water (read: chillyyyyy!!), and even get behind the waterfall for an epic photo.

Ke‘anae Point

A big time favorite along the Road to Hana, Ke'anae point offers breathtaking views of the coastline, with big waves crashing on the rugged lava rocks. And of course, fresh banana bread, yum ;-)

Hana

We'll reach Hana just around lunch time, and you'll have a choice to sample some of the yummy local food trucks in the area. Local bbq, fresh fish, Thai, Mexican, Huli Huli chicken...? It's always a surprise!

Kaumahina State Wayside Park

A beautiful lookout point over the Hana coastline, overlooking Honomanu Bay and Ke'anae peninsula. Bonus point: a bathroom break if need!

Koki Beach

Just beyond Hana is a small hill, where it is said the bones of Pele, Goddess of the volcanoes, are buried. The rock is crumbly and erosion has turned the beach a deep shade of red. (Note this is not Kaihalulu / Red Sand Beach, which requires trespassing on private property and following a dangerous trail on which accidents happen regularly--we don't do that).

Wailua Falls

One of the Road to Hana's most photogenic waterfalls! If conditions allow, you might even be able to freshen up in the small pond.

‘Ohe‘o Gulch

We'll drive over the bridge that crosses over the famous Seven Sacred Pools, aka Oheo Gulch. Beautiful photo op! (Note: if you want to enter the National Park and hike up on the Pipiwai trail through the Bamboo Forest, up to Waimoku Falls, please select the 7 Sacred Pools & Bamboo Forest Hike Tour!)

Alelele Bridge

Another stunning view on the Road to Hana, right at the edge between the lush rainforest of the "wet" side, and the dry brush of the "backside". (Note: going all the way around East Maui is NOT guaranteed, as it depends on weather, road conditions, and ongoing road works).

Ho'okipa Beach Park

On the way back, if you still have a little bit of energy left, we can stop at Ho'okipa beach to check out surfing action, and hopefully a few turtles basking in the sun!

My wife and I did a private Road to Hana tour with Johnny in Jan. 2020. What an amazing day!! We went "all the way around" by starting from the "back side" and through Hana and then hit a lot of the stops along the Road to Hana. The journey was amazing and a trip we will never forget! So many beautiful views and incredible sights that I don't have the time to mention them all. Johnny made the trip special. Everything was top-notch! He discussed with us what we would like to see, do, etc and took our words to heart. The trip was totally customized for us. Johnny had interseting facts about everything we saw and did. He was able to answer our questions. He made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. The conversation was very enjoyable and there was never a dull moment the entire 10 hour day. I can't imagine doing the Road to Hana any other way! The same evening as the tour, Johnny sent us a link to dozens of photos he took of us that day as well as an email with a complete listing of all we had seen and done that day. He even included restaurant recommendations (per our request). From start to finish (and beyond), the company and Johnny were amazing and exceeded our expectations! My wife and I both feel like we made a friend in Johnny after the day we spent together. If you are considering a trip with Unique Maui Tours you should absolutely DO IT!! You will not be disappointed!! (There are so many more great things I could say about the company, the trip, Johnny, etc, but don't want this review to turn into a novel! We have come to Maui for over 50 years and have been to Hana several times. Our son was here a few months ago with his family and raved about Unique, so we thought we would try them. Trip beat any review possible. Johnny our guide was professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very caring. Vehicle was immaculate and comfortable for the back route to Hana over unpaved roads. Johnny customized the trip taking into consideration our age. Truly an outstanding trip.

What a great day! With Johnny as our driver and guide we were able to see and visit so many beautiful and interesting sights. Even though we have driven the road several times in past years we still enjoyed the beauty of the area. But we especially loved learning about the many Hawaiian legends and historical facts of the area as well as names and facts about the trees and wildlife. Johnny is very knowledgeable about so many different things. He was also very accommodating to us. He kept saying that this was our trip and we could go or do anything! He has thought of everything to make the trip perfect. At a stop for lunch he pulled out a tablecloth to cover the picnic table and supplied hand wipes. When getting out at a waterfall stop there was a slight drizzle so he carried 2 umbrellas in case it started to pour. I Am an amateur photographer so he always got us to great places to snap the perfect photo. He’d let cars pass us so he could stop a second for me to get the picture. Johnny was a very careful driver and we felt very safe the whole time. He took us by way of the backside which was not as rough a ride as we had expected. We saw things we had never seen before. My children are visiting Maui in the summer and they are for sure booking this trip .
