We had a fantastic start to our tour in Yellowstone thanks to Derek. The park is overwhelming in size and things to experience, and it was so nice to maximize our time with a guide. He was very familiar with the park, ecosystem, and where to take us for little hikes to show us lakes, hot springs, waterfalls, or geysers. We even had a really nice gourmet lunch while we waited for Old Faithful to erupt. One of the things that captivated my kids was knowing the temperature of each hot spring with the tool he used. Our guide Derek has a really nice laid back attitude and an obvious love for the outside. We loved our time in Yellowstone and are so thankful we had a guide to help maximize the experience.

This was an amazing day, from the very start to the very end. In fact,it was even good before it started - I had a few questions about the pick up location and Derek was quick to reply to my email and make sure we were on the same page. The trip itself was awesome. I didn't really think about how much wildlife we would see and I was blown away. It felt like we were in the middle of a National Geographic TV show! We even got to see some bears (my daughter's biggest wish)! This was the best way to see the park without having to think or plan. Maybe someday I will come back with my grandkids.

Derek picked us up at our Big Sky hotel early in the day, and it took about an hour to get to Yellowstone. He was even kind enough to make a stop for coffee and a treat along the way. He knew the park like the back of his hand and was able to guide us to the parts of the park that were less crowded. We didn't experience many crowds until the afternoon, and that was impressive given that it is the tourist season. The only place we saw a crowd was when we went to see Old Faithful, and that simply cannot be avoided. It is such an advantage to go with Derek because he takes you on a tour that he personally maps out for you that includes the things you're most interested in -- and avoids all the chaos and hassle of the rest. Yellowstone is gigantic, and if you don't know much about the park, you could waste a lot of time on things that aren't as important to you. My husband and I would have exhausted ourselves if we would have tried to cover Yellowstone all in one day without Derek's thoughtful planning and navigation. The other thing that I liked about Derek is that he focused on environmental studies, so he knew a great deal about the ecosystem of Yellowstone. He could tell you so much about the wildlife and how Yellowstone manages this delicate ecosystem. He was a very interesting person who had a lot to share with us about Yellowstone and that region of the country in general. He's also a fun, enjoyable person to spend the day with. I highly recommend his tours!
