There are a few mountain coasters in the area but Rocky Top is is the best. There are four uphill (and downhill!) sections and some great full circular turns. The ride itself is long and well worth the entrance fee. They only charge $5 for kids six and under and offer second adult rides for $9, making this a great value. I rode with my 6 and 9 year old during the day which provided nice views but also saw the coaster all light up at night which looked fun (especially for teen/adult riders).
There are comfortable rocking chairs for nonriders to wait in which is another nice touch.
While the coaster deserves 5 stars in its own merit, I want to say that the staff at Rocky Top Mountain Coaster deserve their own 5 stars. I stupidly lost the keys to our van while riding (secure your valuables, folks!) and was locked out with my two kids. One staff member charged my phone for me, the manager, Sherrie, made sure we were going to be safe and helped secure a tow truck (even offered to order my kids pizza while we waited!) and another employee, John, provided me with mechanical advice as I tried to figure out how to get back on the road in our rental van. They were truly spectacular and went above and beyond. Thank you!
