Our tour guide was Captain Ron and he was very polite and knowledgeable. He knew a ton of information about the history, geography, and geology of this area of California. He was also a really interesting person with a lot of unique knowledge and experiences, and we enjoyed visiting with him during the tour. Ron is an avid hiker and Jeep lover in his personal life, which made his tour authentic because he isn't just trained to do this for his job. It was important to my husband that we weren't just driving around looking at stuff from the backseat of a Jeep (which seemed to be the case with other tours we considered), and he really wanted to do some actual off roading. Captain Ron listened to our interests and customized the tour for us. We did some light off roading, as well as a short, but incredibly interesting, hike. This was my husband's favorite part of our trip, and I really enjoyed it as well! I would highly recommend doing this tour - it is a very cool experience!

We toured with Ed and it was so informative and the scenery spectacular! It's a bumpy off-road ride, but totally worth it. We learned about the geology of the region, the current challenges with the Salton Sea, the local agriculture including the date palm and how they are cultivated through grafting. The Box Canyon finale was the best with video of the flash flood of last fall and then seeing first hand the devastating effects on the road and canyon bed. It is worth seeing! You wouldn't have the opportunity without a tour and you'll get the most out of it with a guide. Ed was great fun to spend the morning with. Thanks!
