We took the option of the two hour cruise and were pretty happy we did. The first hour goes one way up the harbour and the second hour goes in the other direction. Each direction has its own unique features that we wouldn’t have wanted to miss. Seeing the navy ships was the highlight.

Captain Jose Gurganus narrated the second hour of the cruise into the harbor and around the navy ships and shipyards. His first hand (ex Navy!) knowledge was remarkable and he made our trip excellent. We can't believe how much we learned. Boat was excellent and veryyyyyyyyyyyy relaxing. Cruised by the sea lions also- wonderful! Christmas Eve- Well worth the cost!

We enjoyed the two hour tour. But we also wished the boat had gone a bit closer to the shore for a better look as we cruised around the harbor. We enjoyed the half that went toward the bridge to Coronado (our first half) more than the half that went to see the sea lions. More places were pointed out on the first half including naval ships and seeing the lengthy bridge with the 90 degree turn was good. The narrator was also more factual. The second half (north half?) was less factual with less to see and seeing the sea lions was not exciting since they just slept or were slacking up the rays while we went past. In addition the narrator for this half of the cruise was less factual and more interested in being a comedian. If I would give any advice it would be to sit in front so you could see what was coming up and maybe even move from side to side as the narrator pointed out what was on each side. The latter bit of advice might be difficult if the ship was crowded like on a weekend. We sailed on a Monday afternoon which was most likely not a but day. We enjoyed the cruise but maybe just one hour would have been enough for us.
