It was our first time visiting San Diego and we decided to take the Hop On Hop Off trolley tour to get a taste of the city. What a FANTASTIC experience. It's a 2 1/2 hour narrated tour of the city and our tour guide/operator (Tiger - ROAR) was up to the task. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very entertaining as well. The trolley tour was an excellent way to get an overview of San Diego without having to do all the driving. We would highly recommend taking the trolley to explore the sights & sounds of SanDiego.

The tickets for 2 day were a little pricey but it was really nice being able to hop on and off at different points of interest. Very convenient and we learned a lot about the city while riding. Would recommend for those that are trying to get around easily for a few days and see and bunch of different sites.

First, the good: This tour takes you all over the city and provides a fair amount of historical context. Now, then... I found the tour cringy. So many dad jokes and tired songs. It must be difficult to be all things to all people, and they must know who their main audience is. Unfortunately, it wasn't us. Additionally, we found that the quality of tour guides varied dramatically. Our first tour guide was at least charismatic and engaging (despite the cheesy, seemingly mandatory parts of the tour). Our second guide was the opposite. Finally, this tour is expensive. Unless you (1) feel the need to go to Coronado or (2) plan on making more than three stops, you'd probably be better off just ride-sharing around the city and doing things on your own. You won't miss skipping the history lesson.
