The historic trolley is an exceptional way to see San Diego and get the history and stories detailing the sites on the tour. Loved that we could get off and explore (waded in the ocean, checked out some shops and shops, etc.) and then get back on the trolley to continue the tour. Well worth the money and more convenient than driving myselfny

Our original plan was to use this to get to the San Diego Zoo. Then we decided to use it to get acquainted with San Diego. A much better idea! We were staying in Coronado, and caught the trolley there. The employee working in Coronado, Maggie, was exceptional. Not only could she answer our questions, but she gave us great advice. Her enthusiasm and knowledge started our trip off right. Our first driver, Jack, was wonderful; he had lots of "inside" information that he shared with us - with great enthusiasm. We got off in Little Italy. After taking in the Wednesday farmer's market and wandering around, we took the advice of a lady we met at breakfast and wandered down to the waterfront - getting off the trolley route. We took a harbor cruise, than back to Little Italy for lunch. The last portion of our trolley experience was ok, but our driver was harder to understand than Jack was, and while he did know a lot, he was too low key. But overall, this was an outstanding experience, and I would absolutely recommend it to any first time visitor.

Hop on Hop off is a great way to orient yourself or to just touch bases" if you've returned after many years away. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt and toured with Rodney, right out of Seaport Village. Rodney was very good at suggesting restaurants at the various stops. He had entertaining commentary. I'm glad we sat close to the front of the trolley because we heard every word even though at one point his mike failed. ( At a safe spot he pulled aside and was able to reconnect it) My only complaint is in regard to the people who board the bus then talk so loudly. We are on board for a narrated tour people!
