Eat your way through the Funk Zone - Santa Barbara's hip, new 'hood - while learning about local culture and how to take great food photos.

This food & photo tour starts on lower State Street and will walk you through the Funk Zone neighborhood where you will taste what Santa Barbara is known for with bites of fresh seafood, gastropub creations, Mexican food, artisan beer, and locally grown wines several different locations. Along the way, you’ll get immersed in the local culture and hear interesting stories about each place you’ll visit.

You’ll also learn easy-to-shoot photo tips from your pro tour guide and take your food photo skills to the next level using your smartphone’s camera app. By the end of your 3 hour tour, you’ll be eating like a local and shooting like a pro!
(Please note: we cannot accommodate shellfish allergies, vegan or celiac restrictions at this time. However, we only have one shellfish/seafood tasting on the tour.)

Begin your 3-hour Santa Barbara walking food tour at a central location in the Funk Zone, located near lower State Street. This region once housing warehouses and scuba shops — now revitalized into a bustling neighborhood of hip eateries, wine-tasting rooms, and artist studios — is where you’ll meet your guide for an afternoon food tasting and photo tour. Set out on foot at a moderate pace as your guide shares insights into Santa Barbara’s history and burgeoning art culture. Keep your smartphone ready so you can practice the helpful photo tips your guide offers along the way. You'll have many opportunities to take food photos and colorful portraits in the lively Funk Zone. Along the way, your guide stops for food & drink tastings (all included) at restaurants, a wine bar/bakery, & one microbrewery. Learn how to properly position your food for the best photos as you sample local fare. After your tour you can continue to explore and capture this fun & funky neighborhood on your own.

We had a great time on our Eat This, Shoot That tour! The food was awesome, the photo tips were awesome and the history of Santa Barbara from our tour guide Tara was awesome! We highly recommend this tour!

I've been living in Santa Barbara for nearly 10 years now and like to consider myself a bit of a local at this point. Yet still, sometimes it's fun to do seemingly "touristy" things. So, my friends (locals too) and I recently decided to go on the Eat This, Shoot That! food and photography tour. It was a blast! The tour starts with a couple stops on the pier -- Santa Barbara Shellfish Co. and Deep Sea Tasting Room. We got to taste a few wines overlooking the ocean, and the ceviche at SB Shellfish Co. was delicious. The bulk of the tour goes through The Funk Zone, Santa Barbara's new, up-and-coming hotspot, which is filled with fun shops, unique restaurants, tasting rooms, etc. It's a bit of a local's secret still, so it was fun to get off the beaten path a bit (and we even went to a couple spots that I'd never heard of before!). We went to Seven Bar and Kitchen and had chicken and waffles, Figueroa Mountain Brewery Tasting Room for some craft beers, Cutler's Artisan to sip some family-distilled spirits, and Riverbench for some wine and unreal handmade salted caramels from Koval Confections. One of the really fun things about the Eat This, Shoot That! tour is that along the way, your tour guide teaches you how to take better photos with your DSLR, point and shoot digital camera, and smart phone -- so you're getting more than just good food and drink on this tour. We had all levels of "photographers" on our tour -- professional photographers and your everyday instagram enthusiast -- and the photography element was great for everyone. By the end, we were totally stuffed (a little buzzed!) and had snapped a bunch of awesome photos of our food, the scenery, and each other along the way. Bottom line, we had so much fun on this tour!!! Awesome tour guide (she was hilarious!), great stops, amazing food, wine, and spirits, and we picked up a few photography tricks too. I highly recommend it for visitors and locals alike!
