Overall, we liked the food, but our tour guide left something to be desired.
We went to the following places...
Another Broken Egg Cafe: sampled the BEST city grits (seriously, we went back to order more and I didn’t even know I liked grits!), great coffee, fried green tomatoes, and beignets. We were escorted upstairs and pretty much had the floor to ourselves which was nice.
Oyster House: BEST she crab soup that we had for our entire stay there, shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with crab meat, hush puppies, and a local rice dish. Everything here was great, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.
Poogan’s Smokehouse: corn bread, fried cheese ball, and a pulled pork slider with coleslaw. Overall, this stop was disappointing. We got far less food here than anywhere else, and there was barely any pork in the slider (seriously, all we tasted was bread). There are much better smokehouses in the area, so hopefully this stop will be replaced.
The Spice & Tea Exchange: we stopped in for a brief history lesson. The shop itself gives out a bunch of samples if you’d like to try anything.
The Fudgery: we sampled quite a few things here... fudge, candy coated pralines, peanut brittle, chocolate turtle, and we left with a goody bag filled with candy pralines.
As you can see, you sample a bunch of food and will definitely feel quite full by the end of it. Food-wise the trip is well worth the money. The group was comprised of ~10 people and everyone seemed friendly. The reason why we gave this tour 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tour guide was not very interactive, although he was nice. He did not speak whatsoever between stops and seemed to struggle a bit socially. Nevertheless, we would still recommend the tour as it was a great way to sample a bunch of low country food.

Many thanks for your praises, and we apologize for your guide's lack of interaction. Part of the experience is the one-on-one communication with your guide, who should always be engaging, entertaining and informative. We're working on an infusion of elan, joie de vivre and a heap of good old-fashioned egregious gregariousness. Right? It's all about the food - and we need to get all worked up about it. We heard you and we thank you for letting us know.
