As the Pigeon River comes out of the steeper parts of the gorge it calms down a bit. Beginning at our outpost, the Lower Section of the Pigeon River is perfect for those looking for a scenic float trip of the Smoky Mountains. Ages 3 and up. Experience is not required, and each raft will have one of our professional guides.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Minimum age: 3 years old
Guests will then meet their personal guide and recieve the necessary equipment,
Including a PFD (aka life jacket), helmet and paddle.
After your guide double-checks to make sure all equipment is fitted properly, guests then hop on our bus for a short 10-minute ride to the launching point for your trip.
All guest must have secured shoes on, NO FLIP FLOPS / NO BARE FEET

great trip - we ranged in age from 3 to 60 and all of us 7 had a great time. guide was very patient with the kids. enough of 'white water' for them. enjoyed this more than anything else we did while in this area.

Went with the kids, 7 and 15, to do an easy rafting tour firth kids first time. The experience was awesome. Our guide, Joan (Gump), was the greatest. If you do the rafting, definitely ask for her. Will be back to do the upper river.

My family and I had a wonderful experience rafting the lower section of the Pigeon with Big Creek Expeditions. The lower was well suited for my young kids (10, 7, 6) with enough action to keep their excitement up the whole trip! The courteous and professional staff made everything a pleasure and the facilities at Big Creek top anything I've experienced at similar sites. Looking forward to a return visit to raft the upper when the kids get a little older!
