My friend and I booked the Real Alaska Tour, which lasts about 6 hours. Mike, our tour guide and driver, picked us up at our hotel (Seward Windsong Lodge) and took us straight to the Seavey facility. The dogs were impressive, so energetic and social. Riding the sled seemed a little cheesy but was a lot of fun just the same. Meredith was our musher. She was very friendly and fun. Matt Giblin, explained the complete Ididarod expeience. His knowledge and expertise were clearly apparent. We really felt like we were getting a real behind the scenes peek. We were never rushed even though we hung around a long time cuddling the puppies. After our time with the dogs, Mike took us to lunch at nearby Resurrection Roadhouse. I appreciated that we were given several options. My chowder and salad were very tasty and the portion was generous. Next we headed to Exit Glacier where Mike led a short, easy hike to the base. (bring bug spray...you'll need it for the wooded part of the hike). This is the only glacier you can walk up to easily, so you shouldn't miss it. Mike took his time with everyone, giving us all the impression that he was there for us for as long as we needed. After the glacier, Mike took us to check out a salmon weir and rode us through downtown Seward. He even pulled over to the side of the rode to check out an eagle's nest. One of the two juvenile eagles even tested his wingsfor us. Very cool. Altogether, this was a really fun day. All that was advertised and more.

Had a great time. One of the highlights of our trip. We did the Real Alaska tour. Joe our driver and our guide for the Exit Glacier portion was friendly and entertaining. He really cared that everyone was having a good time. He had a lot of interesting stories from both his personal experiences and things he had read. Spencer our guide at Seavey's was very informative and did a great job too. The downtown tour of Seward was a little fast.. maybe because there was not that much to see.

My girlfriend and I experienced the Real Alaska Tour with Seavey's Ididaride as part of an overnight trip from Anchorage through the Alaska Railraod. The Seavey tour started with a guided walk through of one of Seavey's Iditarod dog sled training sites. The friendly staff answered all of our questions as they showed us around the facility. As we sat in a cart, the dogs pulled us around a trail as the trainer answered questions and told us about the dogs, they stopped to take pictures for those that had cameras, and we had an opportunity afterwards to pet the dogs and interact with some puppies! The tour finished up by a show and tell session where all the equipment for the dogs and the sled was shown and explained. It was well worth the time and much preferred to spending a whole day on a boat seeing wild life from time to time. The training facility portion was engaging and I didn't ever feel bored. Lunch at the Resurrection Road House was delicious (I had the burger), and the sights just outside the restaurant are as phenomenal as advertized. We finished up with a short hike to Exit Glacier, and Joe did an excellent job leading the way and taking care of our group. It was a welcomed adventure after a fun but long sight seeing train and boat day the day before!
