We spent 10 days in Alaska this summer and this tour was probably the highlight of our trip! We loved every minute of it!
Our guide, Doug, was a great guide and driver--he had lots of interesting stories and so much knowledge about the local community.
We loved the experience at Seavey's. I wish we could remember the name of the girl who gave our tour and presentation because she was outstanding--we can't say enough about how great she was. We learned a lot about the Iditarod race and how mushers prepare for it. We absolutely loved snuggling those sweet puppies--they fell right asleep in our arms. And the sled dog ride was so fun and such a unique experience! We have been to other sled dog facilities throughout Alaska and this one was by far the best experience we have had.
We lunched at a different restaurant than the tour description said we would with no explanation for why that was. It was fine and the food was good, but it was all the way in downtown Seward and we felt like we lost a lot of time driving there and back.
We enjoyed our time at Exit Glacier, but wish we'd had a little more time there. It felt sort of rushed and no one wants to be the last one back to the bus holding up the group. We talked with the rangers and got our junior ranger badges and did the 1 mile RT hike to the glacier viewpoint, which was beautiful. If we'd had more time we'd have done the more strenuous 2 mile RT hike to get closer.
After leaving the Exit Glacier we visited a salmon stream, which was kind of interesting.
Doug got us back to the railroad station in plenty of time to board the train for our evening departure back to Anchorage! Overall, probably the best tour we took in Alaska this summer and we'd highly recommend!
