My family and I (14 and 11 yo) went to Universal Hollywood on June 26th. As various online crowd calendars predicated this to be a day with the highest crowd rating, I agonized on whether to chance it with general admission or pay an extreme amount of money for 4 express passes. We decided to do the general admission with the early park admission since I bought the tickets on the Universal website and I was glad I did. We parked in the garage by 7:30 and were waiting at the front entrance by 7:45 or so. Park opened to us around 8:30. We did Harry Potter, then Flight of the Hippogrif, then the Simpsons. Had less than 10 minute waits, if that. Then went to the lower lot and did the Revenge of the Mummy and Transformers before returning to the upper lot where we next did the Studio tour. My family wanted to catch some of the taping of the TV show Extra that is filmed right outside of the entrance so we went to this around 11am and then did lunch in the Citywalk area. Had we skipped Extra, we could have done Despicable Me and Kung Fu Panda with 15 minute waits or less. Walking Dead didn't open until noon. So in short, if you get there before the park opens and go from ride to ride without stopping for food or the shops, this park can be done without long waits in 3 1/2 hours or so. After lunch, the park was noticeably much more crowded. We did the Walking Dead next and then finished up with the Animal Actors Studio and Special effects shows. We were out of there by 3ish. All in all, not a big fan of universal. While I am not a Disney fanatic, they have a much better park production and selection of rides and in my opinion better all around entertainment value than Universal that somewhat justifies the high price of admission. Felt like all of the rides at Universal were the same. Harry Potter, the Simpsons, the Studio Tour, the Mummy, Butterbeer, and the Animal Actors show were highlights. The Walking Dead was a waste of time. We didn't go to the Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me, or WaterWorld show so can't comment on them. If you go early, you don't need the Express Pass. If you plan to do most of your visit after lunch, you probably should consider this pass.
