George guided us through the three areas of SoHo, Little Italy and Chinatown on an informative walking tour. He pointed out many areas and buildings that were locally famous and relayed interesting stories and the history of various buildings. It was a rather hot day (upper 80s in Sept with high humidity and little breeze) and we managed to stay in the shade most of the time but an umbrella would have been handy to provide shade. We walked and took short breaks in front of various buildings. There was very little chance to sit down for us older folks. After about 1 hour 30 minutes, we had a 15 minute break to purchase some snacks on our own in the Little Italy neighborhood. We were desperately looking for bottled water as we had depleted ours and George was kind enough to make an extra stop and grab us a bottle. A lot of information was packed in the two hour tour. Our group consisted of 17 people so it was a great size allowing all of us to stay together as we wound our way around the neighborhoods. George wore a portable microphone so all could hear as well as an orange hat so he was easy to spot in the crowd. The description of the tour from the "ExperienceFirst" website reads, "May include short food breaks to sample ethnic foods" so we didn't eat lunch as the tour began at 1 p.m. We were disappointed that no snacks or water were provided to the group. If none are to be provided, the information needs to be updated on the website. The tour started in Spring Street Park so be sure to take the Spring Street exit on the Metro. The app we used didn't direct us to that exit and we walked about 20 minutes before arriving at the departure point. George is a native New Yorker and knew first hand the various neighborhoods. He took a group picture of us in Little Italy and shared the link with us. He also stayed after the tour ended to answer any questions about where to eat or shop. We enjoyed the tour.

Interesting and entertaining tour! Verena was excellent. Pace was reasonable and the fact we had a gorgeous day sure made it easy!
