South Mountain Private Battlefield Tour

The tour is conducted by Dr. Brad Gottfried, a 45-year educator and the author of 22 Civil War books, including the "Maps of Antietam." This tour will cover what happened here, troop movements, and human interest stories.

Each participant will also receive a packet of maps to better understand the action.

The battles of South Mountain (Turner's Gap, Fox's Gap, and Crampton's Gap) were important events during the Maryland Campaign. We will visit each battlefield to learn what happened there and walk in the footsteps of the soldiers who fought there.
