We had an absolute blast zip lining!!
It all started when Jeremy picked us up in the van. We were very anxious about what we were about to do. He did a great job of calming us down as he drove us to the course from the parking lot.
The best thing about this course is that they put everyone through a practice session with a short zip line right at the start of the course that is just off the ground. This is where we met Alex & Brandon, the best guides we have ever had on any excursion that we have taken. They helped us put our gear on, get comfortable with it and hooked us up, one after the other to the short zip line to practice what we would be doing when we got to the top of the course. It is the perfect way to get oriented with the equipment and the techniques used on the course. After we were all comfortable, we got in a different van to go to the top of the course. Tori also helped us with our equipment and drove us to the top of the course.
First of all, there is no climbing on this course. And the best part is that it is perfectly laid out. You get to go through 3 short relatively short & level runs to get you used to the experience, how it feels, how to brake and increasing your confidence level. Then it was on the longer, steeper section where you had enough confidence to start looking around and taking it all in.
But as good as the course is, it comes down to the staff and how they prepared you, mentored you and interact with you as you go through the course. We couldn't have hoped for any better guides than Alex & Brandon. Clever, qualified, witty, fun and reassuring. And always safety being the top priority. We went on a different type of adventure tour after this one while we were in Alaska and the experience was so much different. We did have to make 2 repels off the platform to a lower section of the course. Again Alex & Brandon talked and worked us through this perfectly. It ended up being so much fun. Walking across a short suspension bridge ended up being the scariest part of the course for me! We really appreciated the staff here so much. The fun that we had with them is our most lasting and endearing memory of our entire time in Alaska.
We had never done anything like this before and we were worried about being able to handle this type of adventure. But as soon as we finished, we were ready to turn around and do it all over again. So much fun! And the incredible beauty of the forest. The equipment and the course itself seemed relatively new and extremely well cared for. An overall fantastic experience. Nothing negative to say. Please don't feel like it's too scary to do. This staff will work you through it. Don't miss out on an unforgettable experience. You can do it too! Just like we did. This place gets our highest recommendation and will be our first stop on our next visit to the AK!
