Our most popular tour! Watch a legendary Kona sunset from our spacious 50’ catamaran as you sail the Kona coast, followed by the adventure of a lifetime - snorkeling with the majestic manta rays! Upon arriving, receive an in-depth explanation of one of the most mysterious creatures in the ocean. Join your professional/certified guides in the water as you snorkel with the majestic hahalua (manta rays). Snorkel equipment, instruction, wetsuits and swim noodles are provided. Complimentary water, juice, soft drinks, and hot cocoa included.

We offer discounted self parking at the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha Hotel. Parking charge is $13 for up to 5.5 hours. Please remember to bring your parking ticket with you at check-in.
PLEASE NOTE that trip start times VARY throughout the year to accommodate for the time changes of the setting sun.
PLEASE NOTE that full-face snorkel masks are NOT allowed to be used by guests
Not recommended for travelers that are not strong swimmers. If guest is not a competent swimmer (as determined by the Captain and/or crew), they will be directed to immediately return to the vessel. In such instances the guest will NOT be refunded
Not recommended for travelers that are prone to seasickness / motion sickness
Guests weighing more than 300 lb (136 kg) are NOT allowed in the water as our water entry / exit staircase has a specific weight limit
Not recommended for travelers with a history of panic attacks

The title “Sunset and Manta Ray Snorkel Adventure” is misleading. The excursion requires guests to arrive 30 minutes prior. We left the storefront at 5:41 reached the dock minutes before sunset. While we thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun set en route to Keauhou, this is where the tour fell flat. While we brought our own snorkel gear, little did we know we would not need our fins. The “adventure” consists of swimming a short distance with a noodle and hanging on to PVC tube connected to lighted floats chained together. There were plenty of fish—not much variety—but I saw just two mantas. My husband witnessed four Manta rays—briefly—over an approximately 70-minute float. When it was clear finding Mantas was going to be a bust, the tour guide asked us, “Where do you want to go?” I held back the reply,”You’re supposed to be the expert, Einstein.” There is no way in good conscience I can recommend this trip. The help was quite pleasant. The music, the highlight of the trip. If you want to drink and watch the sunset, this trip Is for you. If you’re looking for adventure—or mantas—look elsewhere.

Mahalo for joining us. We are sorry for your disappointment. We ask that guests do not use fins on this tour because it unnecessarily disturbs the feeding column and we do not want guests to inadvertently kick the manta rays. We do keep all guests together on the light boards for safety reasons because it is snorkeling in the Pacific ocean at night and operating safely is always our top priority. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our playlist, got to witness a beautiful Kona sunset at sea and had a pleasant time interacting with our dedicated and hard working team members. My wife and I went and since she doesn't know how to swim she stayed on board and the crew who was awesome to begin with took it up a notch and made her feel part of the show. Cory( I hope that is right spelling) was amazing at pulling us around to find the mantas and even though we did not see any they made it a blast and even without the offer to come back for free ( We left next day so was unable to) I would have and will come back again, Thanks to Captain Jason and Cory and the new dude tou all were awesome, Mahalo and see you next time.

The Manta ray swim was just amazing, it took a little patience, these are wild marine life, but when the stars of the show came by they didn’t disappoint! Massive rays doing flips and rolls inches away from you, it’s something you just have to experience. And the crew, starting with Captain Mark, were just the best, not to mention the massive boat (seriously it boarders on being a yacht) they escort you around on. A must for any Kona vacation! PS. (Remember some cash to tip the amazing crew with!)

We're thrilled to hear that the manta rays showed up and gave you such a fantastic show. As you said, they are wild animals so there can be nights when you definitely need to remain patient, but when they do show up and put on their underwater dance it is nothing short of amazing! On Kona Style we also offer our manta guarantee - if you do go out with us on one of the rare nights where the manta rays do not show up, we will get you rebooked on another night free of charge and will keep taking you out for free until you do see them. Of course the manta guarantee is subject to availability, but we do have one of the best offers out there and our entire team takes great pride in working with all of guests because the bottom line is that we want you to see them. Our advice to our guests is to always book early in their stay, so if the magical manta rays are "taking the night off", there is ample opportunity to get you rebooked to another night.
