Lots of fun, great value. Sunset was a genuine part of the evening. Crew was smart, safe, and fun. Drinks and gear provided. You do not need to be an expert swimmer or snorkeler. We saw several mantas and they gently grazed us both 3-4 times. My wife was brave but I screamed into the snorkel tube... a lot.

Do not hesitate to book this excursion. We wanted the later one but I think I enjoy the sunset with the evening snorkel better. The ride out was nice, people could have a drink, everyone just enjoying themselves. The crew was amazing and gave you step-by-step what was going to happen and what you had to do to prepare. However, there are people who don’t seem to listen LOL my husband and I had two girls on our board with their feet dangling after I told them multiple times to float on the noodles like they showed us. The whole time they were talking and not paying attention so at the end they made a comment about only seeing two. I was directly across from them and there were more than two. We did have a choppy night but the crew was with us the whole time. They are definitely magnificent creatures. I had an underwater camera with me but I have a feeling my pictures will not turn out. Snacks on the return ride back. My only complaint is when I see people NOT tipping the crew! Please tip the crew! If you can afford to come to Hawaii, pay for these excursions, then spend the extra to tip them!!

Hello! You're so kind! You bring up several excellent points we would love to build on. Our late-night manta snorkel is great to avoid the crowds a bit more, but the manta count doesn't change consistently between the two trips. We don't think you missed out on anything 😉 The topic of instructions is a tough one. Some guests get it right away, and some do not. Some guests also feel like the amount of instructions we provide cuts into their snorkel time. With safety being a top priority, we see our level of detail as a necessary evil. Thank you for understanding! We're sorry if the guests that didn't pick up all the instructions hindered your manta viewing. Thank you for advocating for our crew and their tips! Tips are more than a bonus; they're also a validation of a job well done. Thank you for your very thoughtful review. We hope to host you again on your next Big Island visit. Manta's being wild creatures of the ocean, and such gentle giants, it's an unforgettable experience. Being a resident of Hawaii, at times (my personal opinion) we look at this opportunity's as tourist attractions. I was proven wrong the moment I started to find out more information about these magnificent creates. Not only is the crew amazing, and informatize. They also know how to have a great time. They had everyone pumped, and ready for a manta-venture. We where graced with the presents of this beauty's several times. I will most definitely be going on this adventure again, and I will definitely be booking with Kona Style. Next time i go it'll be a family adventure. This time around was a mother/daughter bonding adventure. Memories definitely being made.

Maybe because they're always there? We're not sure, but we're stoked that you had an amazing time snorkeling with the manta rays alongside Kona Style! While visitors are most of our guest base, we thoroughly enjoy sharing the beauty of the manta rays and reefs of Kealakekua Bay with our kama'aina guests too!
